Each length of wood has a tongue – or ridge – on one side, and a channel along the other, so the boards lock together and stay flat. Parquet flooring is a created by installing lengths of wood in geometric, repeating patterns (ie Herringbone / Chevron / Basketweave / Finger Parquet).

Alongside real and warm aesthetics, solid wooden floors play the long game and can be sanded back and recoated, and in many cases can be installed over concrete or timber subfloors, and directly over joists.

Unlike real timber flooring, the practicalities of pre-finished timber veneer floors are a win-win for many homes and businesses. With pre-finished flooring, it’s easier to install in and around fixtures and can be walked on then and there – no waiting around for coats to dry.
